We have added a new cloud practice to our portfolio of services to support clients at every stage of their cloud journey, either through consultancy services or resource augmentation.

Headed up by Brett Hargreaves, former Principle Azure Architect at Deloitte, the practice will work closely with our clients, which span financial, legal and utility sectors, to establish a clear understanding of their business objectives and the potential advantages of moving to cloud. Following this, a tailored strategy will be developed to lower costs, increase resilience, enhance scalability and maximise ROI.

As with all technologies, cloud has moved along the hype cycle and is now a true business enabler. However, there are still many misunderstandings around how businesses can fully realise the benefits this service brings, which in turn can lead to mistakes being made in terms of cost and security.

Iridium’s new practice has been developed to help clients understand the danger points and potential benefits of any cloud solution, whilst overcoming concerns they may have, particularly in highly regulated industries, about moving to, or building services in the cloud. As such, Brett and his highly experienced specialist team can help organisations clarify their cloud strategy, and then build a compliant platform to industry best practices. One such area is the creation of ‘landing zones’ that ensure security is central to all of a business’s systems by automatically applying the appropriate controls aligned to its governance framework. Iridium will also work with existing security operations centres, or help build them out, to guarantee ongoing monitoring and remediation of potential issues.

Brett Hargreaves comments: “There is a common misconception that the cloud is easy - and in some ways it is. However many organisations make the mistake of not considering why they want to migrate to the cloud, which can lead to higher costs and unrealised value. Our new cloud practice will enable all types of business to fully tap into increased agility, significant cost savings, greater capacity and a host of managed services in a way that’s suited to their organisational requirements.”

As an ongoing service, Iridium’s cloud practice will regularly review run-costs for clients and suggest ways in which to reduce them, either through re-architecture, right-sizing or through spend commitment, whilst continually working with them to build out and improve their cloud operations.

Ben Dainton, Iridium Director and Co-founder, comments: “The introduction of our cloud practice is part of our strategy to build our business with services that accommodate the growing IT needs of today. For many organisations, moving to cloud means transforming their existing platforms and processes, therefore building a cloud practice is a natural extension of Iridium’s transformation expertise. By leveraging our talent network and in-house specialisms, we are uniquely placed to help resource and consult on the cloud journey at a time when finding and attracting a skilled workforce is increasingly difficult.”

Iridium Co-founder and Director, Sinclair Elliott, adds: “We’re delighted to welcome Brett Hargreaves on board to head up our exciting new practice. Brett, who has a career that spans both software and infrastructure architecture, has worked with some of the world’s largest companies, designing and building cutting edge solutions that create value and drive efficiencies. What’s more, he’s a published author, having written two Azure certification books for Packt Publishing - I don’t think we could ask for a more accomplished practice lead.”
